One of my key targets when I took up the role of PG President was to unify our online presence- to provide a central vault of information for new and returning Postgrads looking for info on St Andrews. I worked last month on some running improvements to the Union PG mini site (www.yourunion.net/postgrad), but wanted to build the central site somewhere that would easier for Postgrads to find and navigate. After a great couple of meetings with the St Andrews webmaster, and a crash course in the site management software, I set about building the new PGSoc website...
And it's finally been published!

The new website has sections to let people know who we are, what we do and how to get involved, as well as providing a centralised guide to the Postgrad information available on the uni website, the union website and beyond.
I'm really pleased with where the website is at right now, but I'm also aware that there'll always be new things to be added- so please visit the website (www.st-andrews.ac.uk/pgstudents/stleonards/pgsoc) and let me know if there's something else you'd like to see up there.
Other than that, as you might have seen, I've been trying to get together the PG calendar for this year (see the website for more info) and I've been finalising the events for orientation week. We'll be throwing the inaugural St Leonards College Welcome Wine Reception in historic Parliament Hall next Tuesday (free tickets available from www.yourunion.net) and the St Andrews Postgraduate Safari the night after. The safari will be a team-based treasure hunt around St Andrews that will give all new postgraduates an opportunity to learn a bit about the town, the university and their history whilst having a whole heap of fun... And hopefully winning some prizes!
Anyway, got to run off, PhD work is calling, but I'll see you all during orientation week and I hope you have a good weekend of preparations!
